Efficacy tests of disinfectants and antiseptics are generally carried out in three stages. In the first stage, it is investigated whether these substances have antimicrobial effects. This step is a screening step. If there are antimicrobial effects, in the second stage, some tests are performed in the laboratory. These tests simulate real-life applications and achieve more realistic results. At this stage, effective concentrations of disinfectants and antiseptics in applications are determined. In the third stage, tests are performed to determine the actual performance of disinfectants and antiseptics. Depending on the situation, these tests are performed in live or non-living environments.

Among the fungicidal activity tests performed within the scope of disinfectant analyzes in accredited laboratories are fungicidal activity tests of disinfectants and antiseptics used in veterinary medicine. These tests use standards published by various national and international organizations. The first of these is the following standards:

This standard specifies a test method to determine the fungicidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics which form a homogeneous and stable preparation in water. This standard is applicable to all types of disinfectants and antiseptics used in domestic, agricultural, food, industrial, scientific, medical and veterinary fields.

• TS EN 1657 Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics - Used in veterinary medicine - Quantitative suspension test for determination of fungicide or yeast activity - Test method and properties

This standard specifies a test method for determining the fungicidal ability of chemical disinfectants and antiseptic products to form a homogeneous and physical mixture in hard water. This standard applies to all animals used in veterinary products, ie, for animals other than the food chain, which follows the fattening, production, farming, transport and death of animals and processing in industry.
