Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and Vapor Determination

The measurement of volatile organic compounds in the air is carried out to determine the concentration of these substances in the air. With these measurements, the vapors of the organic solvent or chemicals found in the breathing air are detected. If the measured values exceed the measured values for the respective chemical, the company must take the necessary measures. These limit values are explained in the annex of the Regulation on Health and Safety Measures in the Study of Chemical Substances issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in 2013. The values determined by the competent laboratories are compared with the occupational exposure limit values specified in the annex of the regulation (Annex I).

The said regulation has been prepared in order to determine the minimum conditions required to protect the health of the employees and to provide a safer working environment due to the potential or potential risks arising from the possible effects of chemicals used, processed or processed in the workplace.

The measurement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and vapor determination which must be done within the scope of occupational health and safety must also be carried out in accordance with the Regulation on Control of Industrial Air Pollution issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. In this regulation, legal limits are explained.

Volatile organic compounds (VOC) measurements are carried out in two ways:

  • Indoor measurements (in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations)
  • Measurement of volatile organic compounds in chimney (in accordance with environmental legislation)

In the chimney made for emission (flue gas) measurements for enterprises volatile organic compounds and vapor determination measurementsis important for the continuity of the establishment and activities of enterprises.

The measurements must be carried out in accordance with national and international standards and EPA, DIN or CEN criteria and in a technically correct and non-hazardous manner. At the same time, the laboratories carrying out these measurements should have the necessary and sufficient equipment.
