In the textile sector, physical tests, fastness tests, chemical and ecological tests, microbiology tests, specific tests or fireproof tests, regardless of the kinds of tests, are essential for the acceptance of results reports in international commercial relations. To achieve this, there are two main points that need to be addressed:

• The laboratories performing the tests should be reliable, impartial, technically competent and healthy working laboratories.
• The tests shall be performed according to the standard test methods requested by the product owner or purchaser.

Today, all laboratories that will carry out tests must be authorized and briefly accredited in accordance with the TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 standards from national or international accreditation organizations in order to demonstrate their reliability and impartiality. In addition, they must operate in accordance with test criteria, methods and standards issued by local and foreign organizations during the tests.

In addition, the laboratories mentioned above should have the tools and equipments in accordance with the latest technology and should perform these tests with an experienced and trained staff. However, if this is achieved, fast, reliable and quality results can be obtained.

Accredited laboratories carry out a number of tests to determine the flame spread property of flame retardant fabric samples in horizontal position within the scope of flammability tests. Laboratories meet the following standards during these tests:

• TS 6346 Textile products - Combustion properties - Determination of flame spreading properties of samples ignited on the edge of horizontal commune

This standard describes a method for measuring the flame spreading rate, core burning time, destroyed length, and similar flame spreading properties of a single or multi-component textile product used in clothing, drapery and upholstery. By single or multiple components is meant coated, capitulated, sandwich, multilayer and the like.
