Assessment of Flammability of Bedding Materials - Ignition Source, Match Flame Equivalent
Assessment of Flammability of Bedding Materials - Ignition Source, Match Flame Equivalent

Textile products are highly flammable and can cause serious damage. In recent years, flame retardation of textile products has been delayed. Thanks to these studies, both life safety and property safety are ensured.

The types of fabrics produced as fireproof fabrics in the textile sector are mainly: glass fiber fabrics, silicon coated glass fiber fabrics, polyurethane coated glass fiber fabrics, aluminized glass fiber fabrics, glass fiber steel wire fabrics, silicate fabrics and ceramic fabrics.

Most of the laboratory attaches importance to being accredited in accordance with TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard from national or international accreditation organizations. Only in this case, all tests and reports are considered to be quality, reliable and reliable.

Acridete laboratories must also comply with published criteria and standards for testing. In the evaluation of the flammability of the bed materials made within the scope of furniture tests, if the ignition source is a match flame or equivalent flame, the laboratories are based on the following standards:

  • ISO 12952-2 Textiles - Assessment of flammability of bedding materials - Part 2: Source of fire: Flame and equivalent
  • TS EN ISO 12952-2 Combustion behavior of textile bed materials - Part 2: Ignition source: Un extinguished matches and equivalent

This standard includes test methods for assessing the flammability of all bedding when any bedding material is encountered with a match flame or a similar flame. Generally applies to all bedding placed on a mattress. This standard covers, for example, sheets, blankets, electric blankets, mattress covers, under covers, quilts and bedspreads, pillows of all types and pillowcases. However, this standard does not apply to mattresses and bed bases.
