Flammable fabrics are obtained in two ways. Either yarns made of flame-retardant fibers are used when weaving fabrics, or non-flammable finishes are carried out during finishing operations after the fabric is finished. Antistatic properties may also be added to such fabrics, as the case may be. In other words, static electricity can be given to fabrics. In this way, a possible electrical jump and burning are avoided.

In particular, smokers are at higher risk of starting a fire. If a match is used to light a final cigarette in the bedroom before going to sleep, it will not be impossible for the bed to ignite if it falls into bed before it extinguishes. Aware of these risks, mattress manufacturers add properties to the fabric to prevent flammability and burning during fabrication of bed bases and mattresses.

Laboratories are authorized by national or international accreditation bodies in accordance with the standards of TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 General Conditions for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. Therefore, their tests and reports are fast, high quality and reliable.

In addition, laboratories comply with the standards published by local and foreign organizations in the test studies. Furnished bed bases and flammability of mattresses within the scope of furniture tests - Part 2 (Match equivalent) tests are also based on the following standards:

  • TS EN 597-2 Furniture - Determination of the flammability of upholstered bed bases and upholstered bed bases - Part 2: Combustion source - Match fire equivalent

This standard specifies a test method for determining the flammability of bearings, mattress pads and furnished mattress bases when exposed to gas flame as a combustion source.
