UK Nightwear Flammability Test
UK Nightwear Flammability Test

Regulation on Night Wear (Safety) (UK Nightwear Safety Regulation) was issued by the British Parliament in 1985 and introduced in 1987. This regulation also abolished the regulations issued in 1967 and 1968 years.

The said regulation includes the following headings:

  • Conditions for wearing children's clothing
  • Compliance with flammability performance requirements
  • Classification of adult night wear
  • Classification of flame retardant chemically treated nightwear
  • Restrictions with submission to consumers
  • Ads
  • Testing of products by authorities
  • Washing of night clothing before testing

According to the provisions of the Regulation and the provisions of the Consumer Safety Act issued in 1978, it is necessary to carry out safety tests of all nightwear that should be offered to consumers by government agencies. Safety tests will be carried out in accordance with the following two standards:

  • BS 5722 Specification for combustion performance of fabrics and combinations of fabrics used in nightwear
  • BS 5651 Cleaning and wetting methods used to evaluate the cleaning and wetting effect on the flammability of textile fabrics and fabric combinations

In order to comply with flammability performance requirements, any nightwear fabric treated with a variety of chemicals must be washed using the processes specified in the BS 5651 standard before the nightwear flammability tests are performed to make it safer in fire. In addition, if the conditions specified in the article 6.5.2 of the same standard are ignored, any untreated fabrics in this manner will be washed in the same manner.

Within the framework of these principles, England nightwear fireproof tests are carried out by the authorized laboratory in our country. The mentioned laboratories use the latest technological devices and methods in order to obtain fast, high quality and reliable results of the evaluations to be made and they also have a trained and experienced staff.
