The Toy Safety Regulation, issued a few months ago by the Ministry of Customs and Trade, aims to determine the principles for the safety and free movement of toys. These guidelines cover all products that children under the age of 14 use in their games, even if they are not specifically designed for use in a game or designed for play. What kind of products are not considered as toys is explained in detail in the annex of the regulation (Annex 1). In addition, the special safety requirements for toys are described in the annex to the regulation (Annex 2). In addition, the necessary warnings on the toys are given in the annex of the regulation (Annex 5).

In preparing this regulation, the old Toy Safety Directive 88 / 378 / EEC and the new Toy Safety Directive 2009 / 48 / EC issued by the European Union were taken into consideration.

A number of chemicals are used in the production of toys. Given these chemicals and the behavior of children, it is clear that some toys are risky. The regulations and published standards aimed to eliminate these risks. It is aimed not to endanger the health of children and to prevent the production of potentially dangerous toys.

There are also toy safety tests within the scope of physical tests applied to textile products and materials used in production. These tests prove that toys are safe and manufactured in accordance with the relevant standards.

The aforementioned regulation also regulates the principles of free movement of these products in conformity assessment within the framework of the practice of CE marking. Before producing toys on the market, toy producing enterprises have to make tests and analyzes whether they are dangerous in terms of physical, chemical, electrical, mechanical, flammability and hygiene conditions that may be caused by them and evaluate the potential of exposure to potential hazards. The test reports to be performed must be protected within the technical satisfaction.
