As in the whole textile sector, our country is an important exporter country in terms of home textiles. In spite of the economic crisis that began in 2008 all over the world, the export figures recorded in previous years have been reached again in recent years, even though it has suffered a confusion and suffered a serious loss of exports. This is a pleasing situation for our country's economy.

If we look briefly at the share of home textile production in export figures in our country,

• 2% of the total exports of our home textile sector,
• 13 of textile and apparel exports, and
• Textile and raw materials constitute 39 percent of its exports.

Our country is the fourth largest country in the world in the export of home textile products. China has the highest share in this market.

When we look at the home textile exports of our country on the basis of product groups, the highest export was in the towel and bathrobe product group (28 percent of total home textile products export). This is followed by the bed linen product group (19 percent) and the curtain and upholstery fabric product group (17 percent).

Last but not least, the most exported home textile products are toilet and kitchen cloths (18 percent of total exports of home textiles). This is followed by bed linen (10 percent) and woven fabrics (6 percent).

In order to compete worldwide in home textile products, which hold such an important place in terms of the economy of our country, the quality of the products, their being healthy and reliable are of great importance.

In this respect, it is very important to have various physical, fastness, non-flammability, chemical and ecological and microbiological tests of home textile products to be accredited laboratories from domestic and foreign accreditation organizations in terms of fast and reliable results.
