The leather and leather products sector has made great progress in terms of production and exports, especially on the demand from the Eastern Bloc countries, which are dispersed in the 1990s, to some extent with intensive luggage trade. During this period, large investments were made and capacity was increased. The leather sector has shown significant developments not only within the country but also in terms of exports.

Leather sector has given importance to apparel production. The share of leather apparel production in the whole leather production goes up to 70 percent. The second is shoes. However, although the shoe industry has a serious trade potential in our country, it cannot be said that it is sufficiently developed in terms of exports. Although there are many advantages in the shoe industry, the number of small workshops among enterprises is high, the labor force is not qualified enough and there is a lack of quality and standards in the shoe supplier industry.

The shoe industry is very sensitive to price and quality. Production is therefore constantly shifting to countries where labor is cheaper. China has become the largest shoe manufacturer country in the world today. But it is wrong to see everything as cost. Countries that have seen this fact, even if it is late, have started to give priority to quality and human health.

Products that threaten human health are no longer accepted and restrictions are imposed on production. While these restrictions are health measures, they increase the quality and reliability of the products.

Within this framework, authorized laboratories carry out tests, measurements and analyzes on tear strength, thickness, water fastness, rubbing fastness, pH value, prohibited azo dyes, extractable heavy metals and many more.

During these tests, the laboratories comply with both the current regulations and the test methods and standards published by local and foreign organizations.
