Only cotton accounts for more than two percent of the world's agricultural products, and 11 is used for cotton production. Pesticides are substances used during production to destroy plant-damaging and unwanted organisms. Almost one percent of these pesticides have been described by the World Health Organization as toxic to the extent that they can be considered dangerous. Cotton is the most widely used pesticide product in the world. Cotton is in fourth place in the use of synthetic fertilizer. For this reason, the importance of organic production of cotton is very important.

Organic cotton production is increasing in our country. Our country is the second largest producer of organic cotton in the world. The organic textile sector has also gained importance in this respect. The fastest growing textile sub-sector is the organic cotton products sector.

In this respect, test and analysis studies for determining the pesticide residues in textile products have gained importance.

Among the chemical and ecological tests carried out in the laboratories accredited within the scope of TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard from domestic or foreign accreditation organizations, tests are carried out to determine the amount of pesticide residues in textile products. These studies are based on the following standards:

  • EPA Method 8270C Semi-organic compounds by gas chromatography or mass spectrometry
  • EPA Method 3545A (SW-846) Pressurized liquid extraction (PFE)
  • EPA Method 1618 Organo-halide and organo-phosphorus poison drugs, phenoxy acid herbicides and herbicidal esters and halogen-specific and organo-phosphorus detectors and other compounds capable of extraction and analysis by extensive capillary column gas chromatography
  • DIN 38407-14 German standard method for water, wastewater and sludge analysis - Substance group analysis (Group F) - Determination of phenyl alkane carboxyl acids by solid chromatography and post-drainage by gas chromatography and mass spectra (F 14)
