The Ministry of Customs and Trade issued the Toy Safety Regulation in October 2016. This regulation sets out the principles and procedures for the safety and free movement of toys. The regulation covers all kinds of products used by children under the age of 14, regardless of whether they are manufactured or designed specifically for playing games.

Toys should not endanger human health and safety when used as intended or intended, taking into account the behavior of children, including chemicals used during their manufacture.

Before placing toys on the market, manufacturers must evaluate the analysis, testing and the likelihood of exposure to chemical, physical, electrical, mechanical, flammability and hygiene hazards that the toy may cause. At this point, it is necessary to be within the limits of legal regulations and standards in the painting of toys and the production of finger paints. Therefore, tests to be performed in authorized laboratories are very important.

Analyzes and tests of finger paints are carried out in local and foreign accreditation institutions, accredited laboratories, especially in terms of children's health and safety of toys within the scope of chemical and ecological studies. These studies are based on the following standards:

  • TS EN 71-7 Toy safety - Part 7: Finger paints - Specifications and test methods
  • TS EN 71-9 Toy safety - Part 9: Organic chemical compounds - Specifications
  • TS EN 71-10 Safety of toys - Part 10: Organic chemical compounds - Sample preparation and extraction
  • TS EN 71-11 Toy safety - Part 11: Organic chemical compounds - Analysis methods

Laboratories have to have a strong technological infrastructure and an experienced and trained staff in order to obtain high quality, fast and reliable results during the works they carry out.
