Aminoazobenzol determination

Determination of aminoazobenzol
Determination of aminoazobenzol

All types of textile and garment products produced with azo dyes are banned in European Union countries due to cancer. Within the framework of the relevant regulations by the Ministry of Health, it has been decided that a number of aryl amines and azo dyes containing them are classified as carcinogenic substances which may cause harm to human health when used for the coloring of articles and garments to be worn, and their use is not suitable for textile products. .

As of March 1, therefore, it is prohibited to use the aryl amines and the azo dyes containing them in leather, textiles, garments and all kinds of textile products.

In the laboratories accredited by domestic or foreign accreditation organizations, measurements and analyzes are carried out in order to determine the amount of aminoazobenzol in textile products within the scope of chemical and ecological studies. These studies are based on the following standards:

  • ISO 24362-3 Textiles - Methods for the determination of some aromatic amines derived from azo colorants - Part 3: Determination of the use of some azo colorants may release 4-aminoazobenzene
  • TS EN 14362-3 Textiles - Methods for the determination of certain aromatic amines derived from azo dyes - Part 3: Determination of the use of certain azo dyes capable of releasing 4-aminoazobenzene
  • Skin - Chemical tests for the determination of certain azo dyes in dyed leathers - Part 17234: Determination of 2-aminoazobenzene TS EN ISO 64-82.02 (9 LFGB B 2-4)

These standards are intended to ensure the detection of certain azo dyes in textile or leather products which are capable of releasing 4-aminoazobenzene during the reductive cleavage of the azo bond. This test method is intended to determine the use of certain azo dyes which can be obtained without the need for extraction.

Laboratories have to have a strong technological infrastructure and an experienced and trained staff in order to be qualified and reliable in their measurement, test and analysis studies and for the reports they prepare to be valid internationally.
