Fabric Weight

The weight in grams of one square meter of fabric is called fabric weight. The area of the fabric is used to determine the mass. This is in fact the property expressed as the thickness or density of fabrics in daily life. It is felt in the form of seasonal clothing. Garment products made of high square meter fabrics are mostly used in winter. Products produced from low square meters of fabric are mostly used in summer.

For physical tests performed in accredited laboratories, standards issued by local and foreign organizations are complied with. In this context, the following standards are used in the determination of fabric weight:

  • TS 251 Woven fabrics - Determination of unit length and unit area mass
  • TS ISO 3801 Textiles - Woven fabrics - Determination of unit length weight and unit area weight
  • TS 1534-1 EN ISO 2286-1 Rubber or plastic coated fabrics - Determination of ball properties - Part 1: Methods for determination of length, width and net mass
  • TS 1534-2 EN ISO 2286-2 Rubber or plastic coated fabrics - Determination of ball properties - Blum 2: Methods for determination of unit area mass of the total unit area mass and unit area mass of the base fabric
  • TS EN 12127 Textiles - Fabrics - Determination of mass per unit area using small samples
  • ASTM D 3776 Standard test methods for unit area (weight) mass of fabric
  • BS 2471 Textiles - Woven fabrics - Determination of mass per unit area and per unit area

Laboratories to determine the weight of the sand, TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 General Requirements for the Qualification of Testing and Calibration Laboratories in accordance with the principles of national or international foreign organizations must be accredited. At the same time, it is necessary to have a strong infrastructure and an experienced and trained staff.
