Home textile production is a growing market. At the same time, the diversity of fiber types and the variety of fabrics used in home textiles increased. While the quality of the fabrics increases, the usage areas are diversified.

In the production of yarns used in fabric production, linen, cotton or wool yarns are used as solitary and weft yarns. In addition, viscose, trevira or polyester counter yarns are also used.

The fibers are twisted and rotated about an axis to obtain yarn. The twist process gives the rope strength, stiffness or softness, or a smooth surface. Depending on the type of fibers used in yarn making and the fineness of the yarns produced, a certain amount of fiber is added to stabilize the formation of the yarn. Thin yarns spun with less twist are used in wefts and thin yarns spun with very twist are used in warps.

The woven fabrics are obtained by connecting two strands of parallel yarns, called warp and weft, to form a knit while intersecting each other in the perpendicular direction. In the weaving process, the yarns extending across the width of the fabric are called weft yarns. They are subject to less tension than warp threads. The yarns extending to the length of the fabric are called warp threads. These are tensile resistant yarns.

During this weaving of the fabric, faults consisting of foreign fibers entering the structure of the fabric by mixing with the yarns are called pilling. Warp threads are also subject to friction and tension during weaving. Therefore, sizing is done to increase their resistance. The aim is to protect the yarns from the abrasive effects of the weaving process. If the sizing process is not done properly, the fabrics may then be fuzzy.

The pile retention of the fabric is that the surface of the fabric has a partial or complete pile appearance, and this is a fabric error. When the pile holding strength tests are performed on the fabrics by the authorized laboratories, the standards developed by domestic and foreign organizations are taken as basis.
