Mapping Studies

In case of possible risks in the working environment, mapping studies are also carried out by authorized laboratories. With the studies conducted for mapping, the collected data are applied to the working areas of the enterprise by making appropriate distribution and spreading modeling.

Tests, measurements and analyzes of noise, dust, physical factors and chemical factors carried out by laboratories in working environments, to what extent the limit values defined in both legal regulations and standards developed by domestic and foreign organizations have been exceeded and exceeded, risk.

However, with mapping studies, risks and points to take precautions are shown more clearly on a map. With these maps, businesses perceive both the workplace as a whole and the very risky working areas visually. In this way, the measures to be taken will be easier to decide what will happen and how to implement.

With mapping activities, it is aimed to raise awareness of employees on the one hand and to ensure that they use protective equipment.

The laboratories that will carry out these studies must be accredited from national or international accreditation organizations in accordance with the standard of TS EN ISO / IEC 17025 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. These laboratories mainly carry out the following activities within the scope of mapping studies:

  • Ambient noise mapping
  • Ambient dust mapping
  • Physical factor mapping
  • Chemical factor mapping

It is a known fact that the physical and mental health of the employees deteriorates due to the noise in the working environments. Employers are obliged to take the necessary measures to prevent noise in work environments and to implement them in accordance with the Regulation on Protection of Employees from Risks Related to Noise issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Employees need to be protected from the health and safety risks they face because of exposure to noise in the workplace. While preparing noise maps, measurements are made in the machines and benches used, noise level curves are drawn and details are revealed. In this way, enterprises can easily see the points exposed to intense noise and take more accurate measures.

In some working environments, dusts that are generated during production activities and suspended in the air are seriously threatening worker health both in quantity and in terms of harmful substances they contain. This also causes the machines to malfunction frequently and not work properly. Inhaled dusts cause poisoning in the workers' bodies, and they accumulate in the body and show cancer and allergic properties. The laboratory processes data obtained from various measurements by applying appropriate dispersion and diffusion modeling to the work areas of the enterprise and conducts dust dust mapping studies. In this way, employers can see the risk factors more clearly in the sections where the employees are on the map.

There are many physical factors that prevent healthy and reliable working environments. The work environment is very noisy, very dusty, the work causes the vibrations in the hands, arms and bodies of the workers, the thermal comfort of the environment is not provided, the ventilation is not enough, the environment is too hot or cold, the air is too humid or dry, the lighting conditions are insufficient low or high air pressure are the physical factors that make working environment unfavorable. Measurements and analysis results are processed on the work areas of the enterprise and physical factor mapping is performed.

Gas, steam, dust and smoke are the main chemical factors that make the working environment unhealthy. Producing, using, changing from natural environment or obtaining new chemical substances by synthetic means facilitates human life on the one hand and creates harmful results for human health. Chemical factor mapping studies make the risky areas of the enterprise more prominent. Thus, it is easier for enterprises to understand risks and take precautions.
