Staphylococcus aureus (coagulase Positive Staphylococ) determination

Determination of Staphylococcus Aureus (Coagulase Positive Staphylococ)
Determination of Staphylococcus Aureus (Coagulase Positive Staphylococ)

Staphylococcus aureus is a gram-positive bacterial species and there are different varieties of 20. Some species of staphylococcus aureus, which produce high-temperature resistant protein toxins, cause disease in humans. The disease is caused by the enterotoxins produced by them. The disease develops rapidly and abruptly depending on the sensitivity of toxins exposed to these toxins, the rate of toxins taken in food, the amount of contaminated food consumed and the health status of the person in general. The most common symptoms are nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In cases of high poisoning, headache, muscle cramps and palpitations are observed. In general, the recovery process is two days, but in severe cases lasts up to a week. When the population of Staphylococcus aureus exceeds 100 per gram, symptoms of intoxication appear.

Staphylococcus aureus, which is the most pathogen of Staphylococcus bacterial species, is detected only by coagulase production method among other staphylococcus species.

In advanced laboratories, studies are carried out for the determination of staphylococcus aureus (coagulase positive staphylococ) among microbiological analyzes. These studies are based on standards published by national and international organizations. The following are some of the basics of amalysis:

  • Microbiology of food and animal feeds - Coagulase - Horizontal method for counting of positive staphylococci (staphylococcus aureus and other species) - Part 6582: using Baird-Parker agar medium
  • Microbiology of food and animal feeds - Coagulose - Horizontal method for counting positive staphylococci (staphylococcus aureus and other species) - Part 6582: Using rabbit fibrinogen agar medium
  • Microbiology of food and animal feed - Coagulase - Horizontal method for enumeration of positive staphylococci (staphylococcus aureus and other species) - Part 6582: Ems technique for detection and low counts
