In animal production, feeds are foods that allow animals to continue their vital activities and have an important function in obtaining the highest yields from animals. The feeds should be health-friendly and their nutritional values should be high. Deterioration in feed is usually caused by microorganisms and animal pests. If the feeds are degraded, the expected benefit from the feeds cannot be achieved. Animals that are fed with spoiled or contaminated feeds have certain diseases. In this context, feeds damaged by molds also cause big problems. Diseases and deaths may occur in animals fed mycotoxin-derived feeds. In livestock enterprises, a portion of the costs close to 80 is composed of feed expenses. Therefore, it is necessary to make the most of the feed.

It is similar to fungi, yeasts and bacteria. The different aspect of bacteria is that they are nucleated and multicellular. In fungi, cells multiply by binding to one another and do not contain chlorophyll. They reproduce on the one hand and produce mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are a highly toxic substance for animals and humans. One of the mycotoxins that cause problems in animal feeds is trichothecenes. T-2 toxin, nivenelol and deoxynivanenol (or vomitoxin) are trichothecene species which are very important for the unhygienic feeds.

T-2 toxin molds are synthesized by fusarium fungi. In general, in case of late harvest, T-2 toxin molds begin to form during storage of cereals in cold and damp warehouses. These toxic molds cause inactivity in animals and cause diarrhea. It decreases egg production in poultry.

Within the scope of mycotoxin analysis in advanced laboratories, studies are carried out for the determination of T-2 toxin. During these studies, high performance liquid chromatography method (HPLC method) or liquid chromatography - mass - mass spectrometer method (LC-MS / MS method) is applied. In addition, standards published by domestic and foreign organizations are also based.
