Leakage Current Test
Leakage Current Test

The leakage current can sometimes be generated and the leakage current cannot be removed from the electrical installation due to the contact of the cable connected to the ground line with another ground or high ground resistance. Stray current is a serious threat to human life. If the resulting leakage current is on 30 mA, it is inevitable that people will have irreversible problems.

Leakage current relay is a fuse type relay which eliminates the potential risks by breaking the main connection if the current does not discharge with the ground line due to any problem in an electrical installation.

Residual current relays are manufactured according to world standards between 30 mA and 300 mA. For example, if the leakage current relay is at 30 mA, if the current difference between the phase and neutral exceeds the 30 mA value, the relay trips and the electrical current is cut off. The operating principle of the leakage current relay is based on the difference between phase and neutral. If the difference between the amount of current passing through the phase line and the amount of current passing through the neutral line is above the protection value of the relay, the relay disconnects the electricity.

In short, leakage current relays are a system that prevents electric shocks or fires caused by electric current in case of leakage current in the electrical circuits. The smallest fuse used in homes is 6 amps. This current value is sufficient to kill a person immediately.

Many electrical tests carried out by authorized laboratories include leakage current tests. In the laboratories, leakage current tests are performed on electrical circuits and leakage current relays are tested.

It is becoming more and more important to conduct electrical tests in order to avoid problems in terms of human health and property safety due to leakage currents in homes and workplaces.

During these tests, laboratories operate in accordance with the criteria and conditions specified in the current legal regulations and standards developed by domestic and foreign organizations.
