Tensile Testing
Tensile Testing

Cables are used for many different purposes and in many different areas. Given this situation, the resistance of the cables to a possible dangerous situation is very important. For this reason, various mechanical tests are applied to the cables. These tests result in the most accurate and reliable durability of the cables.

Cables are mainly located in every moment of human life. Since they are used everywhere in business centers, shopping malls, offices, hospitals, schools, cinemas, theaters, airports, tunnels, factories and so on, cables can be used in many different features such as not breaking, not flame conducting and spreading, low smoke density, and not containing corrosive and toxic gas. must have. These features can only be demonstrated by testing on the cable.

Mechanical tests such as UV aging, hot set, and tensile strength and elongation tests at authorized laboratories are also included. These tests are performed to determine the mechanical strength of insulation and sheath materials and how they react under load.

The tensile test results in the percentages of elongation at the maximum strength that the materials forming the cable can withstand. For the test, the sample is placed on the tensile breaker and the test is started. The tensile strength is obtained by dividing the measured maximum load by the cross-sectional area of the cable. In this way, the load per unit area is calculated. A graph of strain and strain appears on the display of the meter. In this graph, the point at which the molecular bonds of the sample tested begins to break is the tensile point of the cable. The end of the graph is the breaking point of the cable. The elongation of the cable is calculated by comparing the length of the sample at the beginning and end of the test. When the test is completed, the screen of the device shows the tensile strength and strain values of the cable.

The results of tensile tests carried out by authorized laboratories are evaluated in accordance with the relevant regulations and published standards.
