Person Over (All Body-Hand-Arm) Vibration measurement

Person (Whole Body-Hand-Arm) Vibration Measurement
Person (Whole Body-Hand-Arm) Vibration Measurement

In accordance with the Regulation on the Protection of Employees from Vibration Risks issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in 2013, employers are obliged to carry out risk assessments in the workplace and to determine the levels of mechanical vibration to which employees are exposed, to make measurements when necessary and to determine the values of exposure to mechanical vibration.

The obligations of employers are discussed in detail under the following headings:

  • Determination of exposure
  • Risk assessment
  • Prevention or reduction of exposure
  • Exposure limitation
  • Informing and training employees
  • Obtaining the opinions and participation of the employees

Based on the authority obtained from national and international accreditation organizations, the laboratories performing the whole body, hand and arm vibration measurement on the person provide reliable and high quality service in accordance with national and international methods with experienced and certified engineers and modern measuring devices.

The criteria that laboratories will take as basis when providing measurement services are specified in the mentioned regulation.

In addition, in the annexes of the regulation, it is explained that the exposure assessment studies regarding hand and arm vibrations should be carried out in accordance with the following standards (Annex 1):

·         Mechanical Vibration - Measurement and Evaluation of Manually Operated Vibration - Section 5349: General Rules

·         5349-2 Mechanical Vibration - Measurement and Evaluation of Hand-held, Hand-to-Body Vibration - Part 2: Practical Guide for Measuring Workplaces

In relation to the vibrations of the whole body, it has been explained that exposure assessment studies should be carried out in accordance with the following standards (Annex 2):

  • TS EN 1032 + A1 Mechanical Vibration - Testing of Moving Machines for Determination of Vibration Emission Value
  • TS ISO 2631-1 Mechanical Vibration and Shock - Assessment of Exposure to Whole Body Vibration - Part 1: General Rules
